CREATING WEBSITES FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND FRIENDS OF FRIENDS HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST REWARDING EXPERIENCES.

Helping other entrepreneurs bring their dream to life rocks my world! In today’s crowded digital space, I believe good design goes a long way, carrying the ethos of a business as well as providing a seamless and enjoyable user experience.

As with all things, there are some tricks to the trade. I have built ten websites and am very familiar with best practices and integration with digital marketing strategies. I can quickly build a beautiful site that is SEO friendly, with proper navigation design, while also incorporating custom graphics to beautifully represent your brand. In the end, I can teach you how to use your site so your business can take off ASAP.

There are a couple platforms we can look at to build your website, and I can help you get the most cost-effective solution that meets your long-term strategies and business goals. WordPress and Squarespace are generally two good options that come up for the type of clients I work with (small biz, artists, musicians, restaurants, educators). I also have experience working with eCommerce platforms (Magento, Shopify, and BigCommerce) so don’t hesitate to reach out and discuss options with these as well.

Reasons I like WordPress:

  • This is an open-source platform, meaning the platform’s code can be edited by anyone to make a truly custom website – there are tons of options and this opens the door for creative freedom.
  • More flexibility with the platform since you can directly edit the code.
  • Huge support group with millions of users around the world.
  • You get to choose where your website is hosted. While this means it isn’t built in and as easy like with Squarespace, I like having the option to choose – If you would like to host your website on an eco-friendly server you can. If you are based in Australia (like I am currently) then you may want a local server (Squarespace is pretty slow here – grrr).
  • In the long-term I think this can end up being cheaper.

Reasons I like Squarespace:

  • The easy-to-use interface means I can hand the website over to you nearly turnkey, and you can start managing and adding pages without needing to call up a developer (slash me).
  • I am impressed by its ecommerce platform, and their pricing works well for artists and small businesses alike (each purchase even includes the domain name).
  • Automatically responsive, which means these sites will look good and work well on mobile, which becomes increasingly important each year.
  • Their templates set you up for success–they all have potential to be very beautiful.

SOME SQUARESPACE SITES I’VE BUILT OR REDESIGNED:

Amy uses her sites to communicate with students and parents of her 3rd/4th grade class. It's SUCH an awesome idea and cool to see how education can work these days ?   [this included logo design] Amy uses her sites to communicate with students and parents of her 3rd/4th grade class. Emily, founder of Six Degrees Society, is the definition of girl-power badass entrepreneurship! She started this networking society in NYC, and I met her at one of Six Degree's first Chicago events. She already had a Squarespace site, but I helped her change up the layout, navigation and design to match her brand ethos and present information in a more user-friendly way. Also any of my friends in the states-- NYC, LA, Nola, Chi, SF, DC... CHECK IT OUT!!!  [this did not include logo design] Emily, founder of Six Degrees Society, is the definition of girl-power badass entrepreneurship! Ah yes, sibs helping sibs. My brother John is an actual musical genius and needed a way to show off his work while applying to conservatories across the U.S. Now he uses it to promote his latest pieces and reflect on his musical journey. He tried setting it up at first and the navigation was a hilarious disaster (I can say this because he is my brother) but we got things sorted and he's killing it at Indiana Jacobs School of Music now! Then we got fam helping fam. Another Griffith musical genius is my singer/songwriter/amazing guitarist Leah Jean. She is studying music at Columbia in Chicago, while sweeping up open-mic competitions and dazzling the Chi-town music scene. Having a nice website will seriously help her get noticed and show off her personality, so definitely check it out and give her a listen ?   [this included logo design] Then we got fam helping fam.
